All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA) introduced a new Personal Program for individual customers as part of its ongoing "SAF Flight Initiative," in addition to the existing corporate program. The Program is designed to give customers a direct way to reduce aviation-related CO2 emissions through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Program Purpose - ANA introduced a Personal Program under its ongoing SAF Flight Initiative. - It allows individual customers (not just corporations) to directly reduce aviation-related CO₂ emissions by purchasing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) environmental attributes. Collaboration - ANA partnered with Chooose AS, a Norwegian software company. - Through Chooose’s platform, customers can: - View estimated CO₂ emissions for their flights. - Purchase SAF attributes that contribute to ANA’s expanded SAF use. - Receive a purchase certificate showing estimated CO₂ reductions. How It Works - At ticket purchase, customers can access ana.chooose.today to see emissions estimates. - Payment amount depends on route, class, and SAF percentage chosen. - Certificates are issued by Chooose; simplified for individuals compared to corporate programs. - SAF inventory and allocation are independently audited to ensure credibility and prevent double counting. Key Facts - SAF can reduce lifecycle emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. - This is the first program by a Japanese airline enabling individuals to contribute to SAF. - Corporate and cargo programs still offer third-party-certified CO₂ reduction certificates, while the personal program issues simplified certificates. Leadership Statement - Seiji Ejima, ANA EVP, emphasized that accelerating SAF adoption is crucial for aviation decarbonization. - Customers are invited to join ANA as partners in “creating a better future together.”
