Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a Taj hotel in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. This is a brownfield project with potential for future expansion. IHCL Signs Taj Dharamshala - Project type: Brownfield development in partnership with Atman Resort & Cottages LLP. - Capacity: 105 rooms with sweeping views of the Dhauladhar range. - Heritage restoration: The historic White Haven Estate (once the Viceroy’s summer residence in the late 1800s) will be revived as part of the hotel. Facilities: - All-day dining and two specialty restaurants - Bar and lobby lounge - Indoor temperature-controlled pool, gym, and J Wellness Circle spa - Banquet hall, terrace, pre-function spaces, and meeting rooms Community impact: The project aims to boost tourism and create opportunities for locals. Destination appeal: Dharamshala is known for its scenic beauty, Dalai Lama’s residence, Namgyal Monastery, Bhagsu Waterfall, Dal Lake, and trekking at Triund. IHCL footprint: With this addition, IHCL will have 27 hotels in Himachal Pradesh, including 12 under development. This move strengthens IHCL’s leisure portfolio in Himachal Pradesh and underscores its strategy of blending heritage restoration with modern hospitality.
