Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) conducted the “Metro Manners – Smart Travel, Safe Travel” passenger awareness campaign at Arignar Anna Alandur Metro Station to promote safe, courteous, and disciplined travel and to enhance the overall commuter experience. Campaign Overview - Conducted at Arignar Anna Alandur Metro Station from 10–12 June 2026. - Aim: Promote safe, courteous, and disciplined travel to enhance commuter experience. - Activities included passenger engagement, volunteer participation, and staff involvement. Student Volunteers as Civic Ambassadors - Collaboration with NCC units. - 25 NCC cadets from 1 [TN] SIG COY NCC deployed during morning peak hours (8:00–11:00 AM). - Volunteers acted as “CMRL Civic Ambassadors”, guiding passengers and encouraging responsible commuting. Key Metro Etiquette Messages - Allow passengers to alight before boarding. - Keep train doors clear. - Do not cross the yellow line on platforms. - Follow “Stand Left, Walk Right” on escalators. - Use headphones for personal audio/video entertainment. Passenger Response - Commuters appreciated the initiative. - Reported improvements in crowd movement and courteous behaviour during peak hours.
