Viking® announced it has taken delivery of the Viking Mira®, the company’s newest ocean ship. The delivery ceremony took place this morning when the ship was presented at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Viking Mira Joins the Fleet - Viking has officially taken delivery of its newest ocean ship, Viking Mira, at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy. - The ship is a small-class vessel with 499 staterooms, accommodating 998 guests. - Mira will spend her inaugural season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Innovation & Sustainability - Viking is preparing to launch the Viking Libra in November 2026 — the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship capable of operating with zero emissions. - Another hydrogen-powered ship, the Viking Astrea, is scheduled for delivery in 2027. - Viking Mira has been designed to be retrofit-ready for future propulsion technologies. Growth Plans - Viking expects delivery of: - 24 additional river ships by 2028 - 9 more ocean ships and 2 expedition ships by 2031 - By 2031, Viking’s fleet will include 114 river ships and 26 ocean/expedition ships. Recognition - Viking has earned over 450 awards, including being rated #1 for Rivers and Oceans by Condé Nast Traveler five years in a row. - It was also named a “World’s Best” by Travel + Leisure.
