Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express

Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express Services Serve Around 45,000 Passengers in First 10 Days of its Run

The Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express has made a remarkable debut. In just its first 10 days of operation (from 2nd to 11th May 2026), the four daily services together carried 44,727 passengers, with 28,762 passengers in the maiden week alone.

Frequency & Services:
Two pairs of trains (Train Nos. 26401/26402 and 26403/26404) run between Jammu Tawi and Srinagar, ensuring at least four services daily on most days.

Occupancy:
Demand has been near capacity, with weekend ridership surging—on 10th May, occupancy touched 98.21%.

Capacity Expansion:
Originally an 8-coach train, it now runs with 20 coaches, yet still sees near-full loads.

Affordability:
Chair Car tickets (meals included) are priced well below flights, taxis, or shared cabs, making it the most economical option.

Engineering Marvel:
Passengers enjoy breathtaking views of the Chenab and Anji bridges, tunnels through Himalayan rock, and valleys of Kashmir—all in under five hours.

All-Weather Reliability:
Built to withstand temperatures as low as –20°C, ensuring dependable travel even when highways are blocked by snow or landslides.

Why It Matters
This service is more than just a train—it’s a lifeline for Jammu & Kashmir, connecting pilgrims, traders, students, and tourists seamlessly. Its timing aligns perfectly with Kashmir’s summer season, when tourism peaks, promising to further boost the region’s economy and accessibility.
