The 4th Meeting of the Live Events Development Cell (LEDC) at Vigyan Bhavan on April 30, 2026, laid out a clear roadmap to make India a global hub for live events by 2030: Sector Growth & Potential - India’s organised live events sector was valued at ₹145 billion in 2025, projected to grow at 10% CAGR to ₹196 billion by 2028. - LEDC aims to generate 15–20 million additional jobs in the sector, positioning the concert economy as a major driver of national growth. Policy & Governance - Single-window clearance system for live event permissions launched on the India Cine Hub (ICH) portal. - States and UTs urged to adopt the Model Executive Order for Streamlining Licensing and Permissions by 31 May 2026 to ensure faster, transparent approvals. - Emphasis on ease of doing business, digitisation, and regulatory simplification. Strategic Initiatives - Draft concept note on Greenfield Venue Development discussed to expand infrastructure for mega-events. - Skilling initiatives: Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), in collaboration with MESC and EEMA, will introduce certificate courses in live events. - Focus on employment generation, tourism promotion, and allied sector growth. Economic & Cultural Impact - Live events are seen as a key multiplier for hospitality, travel, tourism, and creative industries. - The roadmap aligns with India’s broader ambition to be a global destination for entertainment, culture, and large-scale gatherings. Secretary Shri Chanchal Kumar reaffirmed: “On behalf of the Government, both Centre and State, I assure that all necessary facilitation will be extended to make the processes for organising live events robust and transparent.” This initiative is essentially about turning India’s concert economy into a global brand, while simultaneously creating jobs and boosting tourism.
