The MoU between Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) and Delhi Traffic Police, signed on 4 February 2026, sets up a collaborative framework to modernize and manage Delhi’s prepaid taxi booths. Scope: Covers 34 prepaid taxi booths across 21 locations in Delhi. Delhi Traffic Police Responsibilities: - Management and operation of booths - Recruitment of booth staff - Driver verification - Passenger safety, including a control room mechanism STCL Responsibilities: - Digital integration of services - Financial management (including staff salaries) - Booth maintenance - Branding and marketing activities Digital Enablement: The system is being modernized with digital platforms to improve transparency, commuter convenience, and driver earnings. Manpower: Bharat Taxi continues to train and engage existing staff, while STCL has hired additional personnel. As of 23 March 2026, about 130 personnel are engaged in support and operational roles. Cooperative Model: Operates on a self-sustaining, no-profit, no-loss basis, with recruitment and restructuring aligned to operational needs and financial prudence.
