Goa Government has amended Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Yatra Yojana, making the scheme accessible to a wider age group. Age Eligibility: Now open to people aged 50–70 years (previously minimum was 60). Attendant Facility: Each applicant can bring one attendant free of cost. Application Process: - Must be submitted online via a dedicated portal or mobile app. - Requires a self-declaration confirming they haven’t availed the scheme before. - Needs a self-medical certificate stating they are fit to travel and free from communicable diseases. Pilgrimage Tours: - Conducted in groups of at least 750 people. - Travel arranged via trains under government-appointed operators. Oversight: A sanctioning committee headed by the Social Welfare Minister will review applications trip by trip. Purpose & Impact - Expands access to spiritual travel for a wider age group. - Supports elderly citizens who are still active and wish to participate in pilgrimages. - Encourages community-based travel experiences, strengthening cultural and religious tourism. This change makes the scheme more inclusive, especially for those in their early 50s who previously couldn’t benefit.
