The 12th Chuvadi Fest 2025 begins today, Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 7:00 pm in the SAC Maritime Art Centre, Chinna Thambi Annavi Square, Gothuruth. Festival Highlights - Organizers: Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) in collaboration with Sports and Arts Club (SAC) Gothuruth, founded in 1913. - Duration: Three days, from December 28–30, 2025. - Art Form: Chavittu Nadakam (stomp-theatre), a unique maritime theatre tradition based on Biblical stories, performed by the Latin Catholic community in the Kollam–Chavakkad region. - Symbolism: Known as the world’s only maritime theatre, Chavittu Nadakam is a vibrant expression of Kerala’s creolised culture. Performance Schedule - Day 1 (Dec 28): Ploripas Kathai directed by Abhilash KM, performed by Chavittu Nadaka Kalakendra, Gothuruth (7:30 pm). - Day 2 (Dec 29): Panthiyos Pilathos directed by Kalasree Brito Vincent, staged by Cochin Chavittu Nadaka Kalari, Fort Kochi (8:00 pm). - Day 3 (Dec 30): Vishudha Sebastianos directed by Roy Georgekutty, presented by Yuva Kerala Chavittu Nataka Kalasamithi, Kurumbathuruth (7:30 pm). Special Note - Guest of Honour: KBF President Bose Krishnamachari will attend the opening day. - The festival continues a tradition started in 2012, during the first edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, to preserve and promote Chavittu Nadakam for future generations.
