Cathay Pacific Fuel surcharge to increase from 01 January 2026

A fuel surcharge is included on all Cathay Pacific tickets. The surcharge is on a per flight sector basis irrespective of fare type. It is included in the fare quoted on all our direct channels.

Applicability:
- Fuel surcharge is included on all Cathay Pacific tickets, charged per flight sector regardless of fare type.
- It is automatically included in fares quoted via Cathay’s direct channels.

Special Origin Rules:
- Japan: Fixed surcharge (JPY 11,500 for long-haul, JPY 5,500 for South Asia, JPY 7,000 for Japan–Hong Kong/Taipei, JPY 3,000 for other sectors).
- Chinese Mainland: Fixed surcharges (CNY 135 for Mainland–Hong Kong, HKD 165 for Hong Kong–Mainland).
- Philippines: PHP 386 for Philippines–Hong Kong, USD 18.20/24.50 for other sectors.

Exemptions:
- Codeshare ferry/coach services to/from Hong Kong.
- Journeys originating from Bangladesh (tickets purchased in Bangladesh).
- Cathay Pacific marketing flights within Japan.
- Codeshare flights subject to partner surcharges.

Adjustment Mechanism:
- Surcharges are reviewed monthly based on fuel prices.
- Collected in local currency for Hong Kong, Canada, and New Zealand; otherwise in USD.

📌 In short: surcharges are rising from January 2026, with notable increases on long-haul routes (e.g., Hong Kong–North America jumping from HKD 569 to HKD 767).
