Air India has just launched its ‘Easy Connect’ flights from Ahmedabad, a major step in India’s hub-and-spoke aviation model.
What It Means
- Two daily flights from Ahmedabad to Delhi (AI1117 in the morning, AI1121 in the evening).
- These flights connect Gujarat seamlessly to 26 international destinations within four hours of arrival in Delhi.
- Passengers can check in at Ahmedabad, clear immigration there, and transfer via Delhi without re-checking baggage or changing terminals — making international travel smoother and faster.
Destinations Covered
- Morning flight (AI1117) connects to: Shanghai, Dubai, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Frankfurt, Vienna, Milan, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Riyadh, Zurich, and more.
- Evening flight (AI1121) connects to: Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Hanoi, Toronto, Sydney, London, Colombo, and Dubai.
Why It Matters
- Strengthens India’s position as a global aviation hub, reducing reliance on foreign airports for transit.
- Supports trade, tourism, and mobility for Gujarat’s globally connected communities.
- Part of Air India’s phased rollout — Ahmedabad joins Amritsar and Varanasi in the Easy Connect network, with more cities to follow soon.
- Mandatory DigiYatra enrolment for Indian nationals ensures faster, paperless processing.
This initiative is designed to keep more of India’s international traffic flowing through Indian hubs instead of foreign ones, making travel more convenient while boosting India’s aviation ecosystem.
