Air India, SkyDrive and Suzuki sign MoU for feasibility study of medical air logistics in India

Air India Limited, India’s leading global airline, SkyDrive Inc., a company engaged in the development, manufacture, and sales of eVTOL aircraft, and Suzuki Motor Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct a joint feasibility study on the use of eVTOL aircraft for medical air logistics in India.

Partnership:
Air India, SkyDrive Inc. (Japan-based eVTOL aircraft developer), and Suzuki Motor Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Objective:
To conduct a joint feasibility study on using electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for medical air logistics in India.

Context:
India’s major cities face severe traffic congestion, which creates challenges for time-critical medical logistics. The study aims to explore how eVTOLs can provide faster, last-mile emergency medical transport.

Key Highlights
- Air India: Will contribute operational expertise, airport infrastructure knowledge, and stakeholder relationships.
- SkyDrive: Brings eVTOL technology, aiming to revolutionize aerial mobility for urgent medical supply transport.
- Suzuki: Adds market insights and its philosophy of “Smaller, Fewer, Lighter, Shorter, and Neater” to support medical infrastructure in urban areas.

Leadership Comments
- Air India Cargo Head, Ramesh Mamidala: Called advanced air mobility a natural extension of India’s transport ecosystem, emphasizing its potential to reduce critical transit times.
- SkyDrive CEO, Tomohiro Fukuzawa: Highlighted the life-saving potential of eVTOLs in congested cities.
- Suzuki Executive GM, Masao Fujitani: Stressed Suzuki’s commitment to diverse mobility options and infrastructure closely connected to people’s lives.

This collaboration is essentially about testing whether futuristic air mobility can become a practical solution for emergency medical logistics in India’s crowded urban environments.
