The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has commenced construction work at the Central Secretariat Metro Station for the Central Vista Corridor. Project Launch - Construction has begun at Central Secretariat Metro Station under Phase V(A). - This is part of the Magenta Line extension from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. - The event was attended by Union Minister Manohar Lal and senior officials, including Shri Katikithala Srinivas, Secretary of Housing & Urban Affairs and Chairman of DMRC. Triple Interchange Station - Central Secretariat will become a unique triple interchange hub, connecting: - Yellow Line - Violet Line - New Magenta Line - This will greatly benefit commuters accessing the Lutyens’ Zone and surrounding government districts. Corridor Details - Length: 9.913 km - Entirely underground, with nine stations: 1. Shivaji Stadium 2. Yuge Yugeen Bharat 3. Central Secretariat 4. Kartavya Bhawan 5. India Gate 6. War Memorial–High Court 7. Baroda House 8. Bharat Mandapam 9. Indraprastha Strategic Importance - Enhances connectivity to government offices, judicial institutions, national memorials, and convention facilities. - Improves overall network efficiency and passenger convenience, strengthening access to the heart of New Delhi. This project is a major step in reshaping central Delhi’s metro connectivity, making it easier for both government employees and the public to move across key administrative and cultural zones.
