The 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 was marked in New Delhi with a strong show of collaboration between India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE). Theme: “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” — emphasizing yoga’s role in physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional resilience, and longevity. Participation: Over 150+ representatives from 10+ CPSEs, including leaders from Railtel, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited, National Seeds Corporation, MMTC Ltd., and more. Expert Guidance: Sessions were led by instructors from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY). Leadership Voices: - Bhuvnesh Kumar, IAS (Secretary, Ministry of Tourism): Yoga as India’s timeless gift to the world, promoting harmony of mind, body, and spirit. - Atul Sobti (SCOPE): Employee well-being is fundamental to organizational excellence. - Mugdha Sinha, IAS (MD, ITDC): Highlighted the “Whole-of-CPSE” approach, uniting public sector enterprises in collective wellness. Why it matters: - Reinforces the Government of India’s focus on preventive healthcare and wellness. - Strengthens the culture of healthier, more productive workplaces across CPSEs. - Positions yoga as a tool for resilience and healthy ageing, aligning with India’s global leadership in wellness. This observance reflects how public sector organizations are embracing yoga not just as a cultural tradition, but as a strategic investment in employee well-being and organizational performance.
