The Pavilion of India at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2026 has officially opened with the exhibition _Geographies of Distance: remembering home_, curated by Dr. Amin Jaffer and presented by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) and Serendipity Arts. Theme: Explores memory, migration, materiality, and belonging in a rapidly transforming world. Artists Featured: - Alwar Balasubramaniam (Bala): Clay and soil panels from Tamil Nadu reflecting environmental change and memory. - Ranjani Shettar: Suspended sculptural forms inspired by nature and craft. - Sumakshi Singh: A life-sized embroidered reconstruction of her demolished family home in New Delhi. - Skarma Sonam Tashi: Papier-mâché installation referencing Ladakhi architecture and ecology. - Asim Waqif: Bamboo installation inspired by urban scaffolding, symbolizing transition and renewal.
