The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) participated in the Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026, held in Chennai/Mamallapuram on 2–3 February 2026. Event: Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit (TNGTS) 2026 Venue: Four Points by Sheraton, Mamallapuram (near Chennai) Dates: 2–3 February 2026 GSTC Role: - CB (Ram) Ramkumar, GSTC Vice Chair, moderated the panel “Rethinking Ecotourism Beyond Sanctuaries.” - The session emphasized moving beyond the narrow view of ecotourism as limited to forests or reserves, and instead adopting a landscape-level approach that integrates diverse ecosystems and shared spaces into tourism planning. - Brought together perspectives from government, industry, and global tourism organizations. Broader Summit Focus - Position Tamil Nadu as a premier global tourism destination. - Activities included panel discussions, fireside chats, investor meets, B2G & B2B meetings, tourism start-up hackathon, exhibitions, networking events, cultural programs, and fam trips. - Participants ranged from tour operators, hoteliers, airlines, developers, startups, investors, travel media, influencers, and students. This summit signals Tamil Nadu’s ambition to blend sustainability with investment opportunities, while GSTC’s involvement ensures that global best practices in responsible tourism are part of the conversation.
