Sri Lanka Tightens Entry Rules for Tourists Starting October 15, 2025

Beginning 15 October 2025, Sri Lanka will require all foreign tourists to obtain a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in the country. This new directive from the Department of Immigration and Emigration is designed to:

- Streamline entry procedures
- Strengthen border security
- Align with global best practices in visitor management

What Travelers Need to Know
- ETA must be secured online prior to travel via the official portal: [www.eta.gov.lk](https://www.eta.gov.lk)
- Applies to all ports of entry, including airports and seaports
- Travel agents and tour operators are being urged to inform clients early to avoid last-minute issues
