Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently inspected the newly constructed Yatri Suvidha Kendra at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving passenger experience during peak travel seasons like Diwali and Chhath Puja. Key Features of the Yatri Suvidha Kendra - Capacity: Designed to accommodate around 7,000 passengers at any given time. - Zonal Layout: - Ticketing Area: 2,860 sqm - Post-Ticketing Area: 1,150 sqm - Pre-Ticketing Area: 1,218 sqm - Facilities: - 22 manual ticket counters - 25 automatic ticket vending machines - Over 150 toilets - Drinking water dispensers Purpose and Impact - Decongestion: All ticketing counters inside the station have been shifted to this Kendra to ease crowding. - Passenger Comfort: Especially beneficial during festivals when passenger volume surges. - Future Expansion: Similar holding areas will be developed at 76 other stations across India. Vaishnaw emphasized that this initiative reflects Indian Railways' commitment to modernizing infrastructure and enhancing passenger convenience.
