Indian Railways is introducing new rules for Tatkal bookings from 1 July 2025

Starting 1 July 2025, Indian Railways is introducing new rules for Tatkal bookings to make the system more secure, transparent, and fair.

Aadhar Authentication
From 1st July, anyone booking Tatkal tickets online through IRCTC must link their account with their Aadhaar number.

Then, starting 15th July, the IRCTC website and mobile app will also ask users to verify their identity using an OTP (One-Time Password) sent to the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar.

Offline Tatkal Booking
This rule doesn't just apply to online bookings. If you're booking Tatkal tickets at PRS counters or through authorised agents like YTSK, you must complete OTP verification using the mobile number you gave at the time of booking.

Restriction on Agents
From 15 July, authorised agents won't be allowed to book Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window:
For AC tickets: No agent bookings from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM
For Non-AC tickets: No agent bookings from 11:00 AM to 11:30 am
