Lufthansa's first anniversary aircraft lands in Frankfurt
On 23 December 2025, Lufthansa welcomed a very special arrival at Frankfurt Airport—its brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a striking XXL crane livery to mark the airline’s 100th anniversary. Aircraft Highlights - Registration: D-ABPU, named “Berlin”. - Design: - Blue fuselage with a giant white crane whose wings merge into the aircraft’s wings. - “100” integrated on the left side, “1926 | 2026” on the right side. - A “100” also painted on the underside of the aircraft. - Fleet Plan: This Dreamliner leads a six-aircraft anniversary fleet to be rolled out in 2026, including: - Airbus A380 - Airbus A350-1000 - Airbus A350-900 - Airbus A320 - Boeing 747-8 Celebration - Welcomed by plane spotters, travelers, and Lufthansa executives at Germany’s largest airport. - CEO Jens Ritter described it as “an unforgettable moment”, combining tradition and future in one iconic design. - The Dreamliner will enter scheduled service in the coming weeks, ahead of Lufthansa’s official centenary celebrations in January 2026.
