KLM has just taken a major step toward greener ground operations at Schiphol Airport. Here are the highlights of their announcement: Sustainability goal: Part of KLM’s plan to achieve zero-emission ground operations by 2030. New equipment: The airline has introduced Goldhofer Phoenix AST2E electric tow tractors, leased via TCR. Capabilities: These tractors can push back and tow both small aircraft and large planes — up to the size of a Boeing 777. Environmental impact: Fully emission-free, quieter than diesel models, and immediately improving air quality on the apron. Driver comfort: Enhanced suspension provides a smoother ride, creating a better working environment. This move not only reduces emissions but also modernizes KLM’s ground fleet with more versatile and eco-friendly technology.
